All Paintings Landscape Portrait Old Master Still Life Sacred

Timothy Cobb Fine Arts was established in 1998, in the long-standing Cobb Family tradition of purveying fine paintings.

Cobb’s great grandfather, Darius Cobb, operated his gallery on Tremont Street in late nineteenth century Boston. Darius, a well listed and collected painter, specialized in portraits, Old and New Testament biblical subjects, and life-sized depictions of American and European historical events such as the Evacuation of Boston Harbor, and the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was also an accomplished landscape and portraitist. Still today, his paintings are held in important private and public collections. Darius shared the Tremont Street studio with his identical twin brother, Cyrus Cobb, a noted sculptor.

Timothy’s grandmother, Lillian Steers Cobb, was a prolific painter of landscapes and portraits. Throughout her life, commissioned works hung and dried in her Long Island studio, next to Darius’ monumental works, then still in the family’s private collection.

In keeping with the interests of his ancestors, the galleries of Timothy Cobb Fine Arts, formerly open in the historic Astor Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, houses paintings of the seventeenth through twenty first centuries. Our inventory features European and American landscapes, portraits, genre, and still lifes, as well as old master paintings of biblical and historical subjects. Offerings have expanded to include Asian, American, and European decorative arts.

The work once pursued in the Tremont Street and Long Island studios continues with Timothy Cobb’s own contemporary paintings and sculptures, also available at the newly located Fox Point, Wisconsin galleries.
